Time’s almost up…
The CDBS (Child Dental Benefits Scheme) has been available since January 2014, giving millions of Australian children access to a number of benefits of basic dental care, and relieving the financial pressure sometimes associated with these dental visits. This scheme offers a total benefit entitlement capped at $1000 per child over a two calendar year period, and is widely popular among eligible Australians.
Recent legislation, however, is calling for the CDBS to close, with only a promise for future assistance through a new Child and Adult Public Dental Scheme (set to commence upon closing the CBDS).
Parents with eligible children who wish to act on this and access the CBDS benefits before it’s too late, must ensure their child receives dental treatment BEFORE 1 January 2017. If the closure is agreed to in Parliament, any services provided after 1 January 2017 will not receive any of the CBDS benefits.
Families can check their child’s eligibility by contacting the Human Resources Department of the Australian Government, or by visiting their website https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/medicare/child-dental-benefits-schedule
